An informative feature warning readers of the high pollen counts in the UK at the end of June 2015.
Helpful contributions from both Dr Glenis Scadding, and leading allergy charity Allergy UK.
Here are the tips which were included in the article:
*Stay inside where possible when alerts are high or very high and even keep windows closed, most importantly at morning and evening when levels rise.
*Use an air filter that can trap even small particles should help.
*Avoid mowing lawns or garden chores. Wear a filtration face mask if you must mow.
*Don’t let pets get close to your face, as they can carry pollen in their fur. Wipe pets’ coats with a damp microfibre cloth to remove pollens when they have been out.
*If you do go out try to after a rain shower when there has been a drop in levels.
*Apply an effective allergen barrier balm around the edge of each nostril to trap or block pollens and other allergens and help prevent a reaction.   » Read more about: Hay Fever Hell is Coming- Express Online  »

Success in the press 2015

In a small busy office, it can be easy to forget (or lack the time) to stop and celebrate successes as they happen. I suppose for most of us this is probably true of life in general! Things have been getting busier at HayMax HQ in Bedfordshire and at  our PR agency Excellart just outside Bath. That can’t be a bad thing, but it does mean that I haven’t posted any of our 2015 press successes on this blog for you to see.
Here are a few snippets from magazines, newspapers and TV so far. Coverage is so thick and fast in the summer months that this picture is already out of date, there have been hundreds more features including; national papers, local press and all sorts of magazines. We are waiting for written permission to post video clips of HayMax featured on ITV’s This Morning and Lorraine by Dr Chris Steele MBE and Dr Hilary Jones. As soon as that’s sorted, I’ll put them up.  » Read more about: Success in the press 2015  »

8/10 Success with HayMax!

Survey Out Today Shows Hay Fever Having Serious Effect on Life
A new survey, published today, from leading national medical charity Allergy UK, reveals the extent of suffering from hayfever, and the huge effect on sufferers’ daily routines.
The study, which also surveyed the effectiveness of an allergen barrier balm, found that 89% of hay fever sufferers’ daily routines were affected by their symptoms, whilst 87% said that their symptoms caused sleepless nights. And almost eight out of ten respondents said that the balm helped some or all of their symptoms.
Before the product trial, respondents reported they were mostly suffering with runny nose symptoms, sneezing and itchy/watery/red swollen eyes due to their hay fever. A majority of participants completed the trial of HayMax™ allergen barrier balm using the product up to three times a day by applying it in and around their nostrils to trap pollen before it enters the nasal tract. Three quarters of respondents found it to be effective in reducing their sneezing, with over 60% finding some relief for their runny nose.  » Read more about: 8/10 Success with HayMax!  »

Daily Express explore Christmas Tree Syndrome and recommend HayMax!

The Daily Express newspaper have also picked up on Christmas Tree Syndrome, and recommended HayMaxTM Pollen Barrier Balm to trap the allergens.
The Daily Express warn that “If you get a bout of sniffles in the next couple of weeks, be aware it might not be a seasonal cold- it could be your Christmas tree that is to blame for your sneezes.”
The problem is dubbed ‘Christmas Tree Syndrome’ and was first documented by American allergy specialist Dr Lawrence Kurlandsky of the Upstate Medical University, part of the State University of New York. He noticed how respiritory illnesses surged in the festive season.
Clippings from 28 Christmas trees, of varying varieties, showed 53 different types of mould. 70% of these types can cause symptoms such as itchy nose, sneezing and watery eyes (amongst other symptoms).
The moulds occur naturally on the trees but thrive in the warm conditions of a well heated home. It is reported that after a Christmas tree has been on display for a fortnight, the number of airborne mould spores increases from 800 per 35 cubic feet to 5000.  » Read more about: Daily Express explore Christmas Tree Syndrome and recommend HayMax!  »

Allergic to your Christmas Tree? The Express online features HayMax™

The Express online has featured HayMax™ organic allergen barrier balms as a way to help sufferers of ‘Christmas Tree Syndrome’ (CTS), an allergy to pollen and moulds released by indoor trees during the festive season.
Christmas trees harbour a range of allergens that are released into our homes. For a sufferer of CTS,  symptoms are similar to those of hay fever; runny nose, itchy eyes, lots of sneezing. Around 35 per cent of people in the UK report suffering from an increase of these symptoms around Christmas.
It seems that real trees are the most troublesome, as pollens from other plants can stick to their bark, and moulds can grow on the trunk and needles. However, artificial trees are reported to cause problems as they harbour dust during storage which is dispersed into the air upon unpacking the tree come Christmas time.
Real and artificial trees can hosed down before being brought inside to minimise loose pollen and moulds, an air purifier might also be useful, as would applying HayMax™ allergen barrier balm around the rim of the nostrils to stop airborne allergens (such as pollen)  from entering the body.  » Read more about: Allergic to your Christmas Tree? HayMax™ featured in Women’s Fitness magazine

HayMax™ features in Women’s Fitness, a magazine for women who work out.
Beating the effects of pollen from your hayfever allergy is difficult when you exercise outdoors. Avoiding being outside at peak pollen times or exercising indoors isn’t always practical. What you can do is wear sunglasses and a nasal balm, like HayMax™, both of which act as a barrier to pollen.
HayMax™ isn’t a treatment for rhinitis or a hayfever cure but it can help. Apply the balm around your nostrils to trap pollen before it enters your nose.
You may still experience symptoms of hay fever like hay fever eyes, a hay fever cough and sneezing or post nasal drip (runny nose) but hopefully these will be less frequent and severe than without the barrier balm. Two independent studies show that HayMax™ traps significantly more pollen than an un-coated nostril.
Check the pollen forecast on our homepage.

HayMax™ features in the Bedfordshire Times and Citizen

HayMax™ features in the Bedfordshire Times and Citizen under the headline ‘Balm a barrier to hayfever’. The article mentions the 2012 and 2009 studies by NPARU that show HayMax™ traps more than a third of pollen and significantly more than an un-coated nostril.
If you are allergic to pollen or have pollen allergies then HayMax™ could be the thing for you. A pollen barrier balm that traps pollen before it gets inside your body and makes you react, HayMax™ is completely natural, organic and drug-free so it’s suitable for using if you have hayfever when pregnant including hay fever eyes and other hayfever symptoms.
HayMax™ is not a treatment for rhinitis but it aims to stop the cause of the rhinitis. If HayMax™ traps enough pollen to take you below or near to your sensitivity level then you may experience significantly less reaction than usual, or even no symptoms at all.
HayMax™ is widely available to buy in shops, at our online shop and you can order direct from us too using the contact information on our homepage.  » Read more about: HayMax™ features in the Bedfordshire Times and Citizen  »

HayMax™ research published on respected allergy site Foods Matter

A second study about HayMax by the National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit (NPARU) in 2012 showed that HayMax™ traps cats dander and house dust mite as well as grass, tree and weed pollen. You can read more about the study and other product trials on our website here.
The respected website Foods Matter explores complimentary approaches to allergies. The website features this second NPARU study about HayMax™ in its latest news section. HayMax™ is an ideal thing to use to help if you have pollen allergies, or allergies to pollen, or if you’re allergic to pollen.
If you do suffer from hay fever then you’ll be familiar with the things that come along with it: a hay fever cough, hay fever eyes and other unwanted allergy symptoms. This is where HayMax™ can help. HayMax™ tackles the cause of hayfever: by trapping pollen it helps you to have less of a reaction as there’s less pollen inside your body to make you sneeze or be itchy.

It works in the same way as a natural hayfever spray or another blocker like Vaseline –  » Read more about: HayMax™ research published on respected allergy site Foods Matter  »
